The Third European Conference on Geostatistics for Environmental Applications, geoENV2000, will be held in Avignon, France, November 22-24, 2000.
Are expected to attend scientists and practitioners from a broad spectrum of the environmental field. It will focus on applications of Geostatistics to environmental sciences.

Scientific Program

The conference will consist of plenary sessions for general interest papers, parallel sessions covering specific topics and a poster session.

Publication

Papers presented at the Conference will be published, after peer review, in a hardcover volume, by Kluwer Academic Publishers in the book series "Geostatistics and Quantitative Geology". "No show" papers will not be published. The book will be delivered to participant addresses within 6 months after the conference.
 

Deadlines

15 April 2000     Abstract submission.
15 May 2000       Notification of paper acceptance.
30 June 2000       Full paper submission.
30 Sept. 2000      Referee comments sent to authors.
22 Nov. 2000       Final version is due at conference time.

The organizing committee has chosen to set the conference in the prestigious Palais des Papes International Congress Center, in the XIVth century residence of the popes in Avignon. The Palais des Papes lies in the historical center of the  city of Avignon. All selected hotels are within walking distance of the Congress Center.

Registration fees:

Late registration (after October 1st) are 400 FF more expensive.  These prices include: admission to the conference, documentation;  preprints and hard cover book of accepted papers, coffee breaks,  lunches on Nov. 22, 23 and 24, and conference dinner on Nov. 23.

Note : Payments of registration fees must accompany all registration forms.

Payments are to be made in French Francs (please do not use Euro) using one of the following methods: Institution or Company cheque, money order, bank draft or preferably by credit card (Visa, Eurocard and Mastercard) payable
to INRA.

General information

The www.avignon-et-provence.com site is full of interesting information about Avignon, its history, its restaurants and its going out. It is available in French and English. www.avignon.com  is another interesting site with many general information.

The two following hotels are within miutes from the Palais des Papes Congress Center. They are comfortable *** hotels. Participants are requested to make their own reservations and to contact directly the hotels. Please make sure to refer to GeoENV2000 / INRA to benefit from the negotiated prices.

Travel Information


The city of Avignon is located in the Rhône valley in south  eastern France 100 km north of Marseille and 200 south of Lyon.
The nearest international airport is Marseille but numerous high speed trains (TGV) link Paris/Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport directly to Avignon in approximately 3.5 hours. There is a regional airport in Avignon, with two to three flights / day to Paris-Orly. Please note that Paris-Orly airport is poorly connected to the TGV's to Avignon. About the Workshop

The Workshop on Geostatistics for Environmental Applications will be held on November 20 and 21, 2000, prior to the conference.

Objective:
The objective of the Workshop on Geostatistics for Environmental Applications is to present an intuitive introduction to
geostatistical methods as applied to problems encountered in environmental studies. The basic concepts will be illustrated through real case studies using interactive software. The workshop will be split between lecture sessions and interactive workshop sessions. Each participant will receive a set of lecture notes.

Who Should Attend :
This workshop is aimed at professionals involved in the analysis of spatial data sets for environmental studies who wish to have a first course on geostatistics.
